Lesson 02 of 8
Overview
Learn how the Help and Documentation Center brings together platform guidance, compliance context, and step-by-step resources to support users at every stage. We also cover the three main resource areas, global search, AI support docs, and workflow guidance for staying audit-ready.
Welcome to the Help and Documentation Center. While the rest of the platform is built for action, this page is built for understanding. And I like that distinction, because it tells you exactly what this space is for. Think of this as your library and instruction manual combined, a one-stop shop for every question you might have about cmmcDIRECTED and the certification process itself. Now, if you’ve ever opened a compliance platform and thought, well, where in the world do I even start, this is the page meant to keep you from wandering around clicking buttons like you’re looking for the light switch in somebody else’s basement. Friendly basement, maybe, but still. This center is here so you can find answers without getting lost. It helps users understand both the platform and the process. That matters. Because with CMMC, it’s never just about learning where a feature lives. You also need to understand why it exists, how it supports readiness, and what it means in the bigger compliance picture. So this center connects the practical side, the clicking and uploading and managing, with the understanding side, which is how you actually move toward audit-ready status. In other words, this is not extra reading for the sake of reading. It’s the knowledge base that supports the work. If the Dashboard is your compliance command center, and the Controls page is where you work through all 110 NIST 800-171 controls across 14 domains, then the Documentation Center is the place that explains what those tools do and how to use them well. It’s also useful whether you’re brand new or already deep into the process. New users can get oriented. Teams can learn the workflow. Administrators can dig into technical details. And folks preparing for an audit can go straight to the guidance built for that stage. So the big idea here is simple: when you need clarity, this is where you go. The platform is built for action, sure, but good action usually starts with understanding. That’s what this center is for. Everything you need to know is organized into three easy-to-navigate sections to get you moving quickly. That part I appreciate. No mystery maze, no scavenger hunt. Just three main paths. First, the Features Tab. This gives you an expandable deep dive into every tool in your arsenal. From the Compliance Journey and Health Reports to the AI Compliance Partner and Evidence Locker, you can click into any feature to see exactly how it helps you reach audit-ready status. So if you’re looking at something like My Journey, with its five-stage compliance journey from Foundation to Audit Ready, or the Health Report with its radar chart and AI-generated plain English health summary, the Features Tab helps connect the dots. Same goes for Controls, Documents, Evidence Locker, the POA&M Tracker, Doc Scanner, AI Advisor, Settings, all of it. Second, Quick Start Guides. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, start here. I mean that sincerely. We’ve designed these guides for specific scenarios. Whether you’ve just signed up and need a two-hour orientation, you’re in the final stretch preparing for your audit, or you’re managing a team and need to coordinate effort, these guides provide the exact steps you need. That’s a strong design choice, because different people don’t need the same map. A brand-new user needs orientation. A team lead needs coordination. Somebody near audit day needs focus. Third, the Complete Feature List. This is for the power users and administrators. It’s the master checklist, and it covers the technical nitty-gritty, from multi-tenant architecture and branding settings to industry-specific AI adapters and OCR document scanning support. So if you’re the kind of person who wants the full reference, not the tour, this is your section. Taken together, those three resources give you three modes of learning: explore the tools, follow guided scenarios, or review the full reference. That’s a pretty practical setup. You can enter where you are, not where somebody assumes you ought to be. At the very top, you’ll find the global search bar. And honestly, this may be the fastest route for a lot of people. You can type in any topic, like How to upload a PDF or NIST 800-171 Rev 2, and the system will instantly surface the relevant help articles. That’s self-service support done right. Instead of poking around menus and hoping for the best, you ask for what you need and go straight to it. So what should you do here? First, find your starting point. If you’re new, click on the Quick Start Guides and select I just signed up. It’s the fastest way to get oriented. No need to overthink it. Second, explore the AI features. Take a moment to read through the AI Compliance Partner documentation so you know how to get the most out of your 24-7 consultant. That includes understanding how the AI Advisor opens with a data-driven action plan instead of a blank chat box, how every AI interaction knows the exact page, control, and compliance status, and how features like Ask AI About This can guide you on a specific control with focused next steps. Third, master the workflow. Use the Team Workflow section to understand the four-tier role system, ensuring you give the right access to the right people. And if you’ve ever had too many people touching the same process without clear roles, you already know why this matters. It keeps effort coordinated instead of chaotic. And finally, stay updated. Check back here often. As the platform updates its AI models, like the transition to Claude 4.5, you’ll find the latest capabilities documented here first. The closing idea is a good one: in the world of CMMC, knowledge isn’t just power, it’s compliance. Use this center to turn I don’t know into I’ve got this. Explore the guides, search the articles, and then get back into the platform to keep that momentum going. You’re never working in the dark when you’ve got the Documentation Center. And that’s a good place for us to pause today. We’ll pick up again soon.
