Why PerformanceXcel Matters for Today's Teachers Episode Description Welcome back to Chalkboard Chatter with Candice Nicholson. In this episode, we're taking a deeper look at why PerformanceXcel matters for today's teachers. Created by an educator for educators, PerformanceXcel was designed to address one of the biggest challenges facing education today: time. Teachers are expected to do more than ever before, yet there never seem to be enough hours in the day. Plus, I'll share how our household has traded the crockpot for a hotplate and how ChatGPT has become our newest recipe assistant. So grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and let's talk about education, innovation, and life beyond the classroom. If you've listened to our previous episode introducing PerformanceXcel, then you've already heard me describe it as one of the most important accomplishments of my career. Today I want to spend some time talking about why PerformanceXcel matters for today's teachers. You know, one thing I've learned after nearly twenty-five years in education is that teachers are constantly being asked to do more. We're asked to teach. We're asked to assess. We're asked to communicate with families. We're asked to analyze data. We're asked to create engaging lessons. We're asked to differentiate instruction. And somehow we're expected to fit all of that into a single day. The reality is there simply aren't enough hours. That's why PerformanceXcel was created. Not by a software company trying to enter education. Not by someone who has never stepped foot inside a classroom. But by an educator. An educator who understands the challenges teachers face because I've lived those challenges myself. PerformanceXcel was built with one goal in mind: helping teachers reclaim their time. When teachers spend less time grading, they gain more time for instruction. More time for relationship building. More time for small-group learning. More time for students who need extra support. And more time for creativity. The best teachers I know aren't remembered because they graded papers quickly. They're remembered because they connected with students. They're remembered because they inspired students. They're remembered because they changed lives. If technology can help educators spend more time doing those things, then technology becomes incredibly valuable. That's exactly why PerformanceXcel exists. To support teachers. To empower educators. And to help classrooms thrive. So What Is PerformanceXcel? Let's answer the question many people have been asking. What exactly is PerformanceXcel? At its core, PerformanceXcel is an AI-powered instructional assessment platform designed specifically for educators. It's simple. It's fast. And it's incredibly powerful. The process begins with a rubric. Teachers upload the rubric they already use in their classroom. Next, they upload student assignments. Finally, PerformanceXcel analyzes the submissions and provides results in under two seconds. Yes. Under two seconds. Now I know that sounds almost unbelievable because most teachers are used to spending hours grading papers. But that's exactly why this platform was developed. PerformanceXcel evaluates writing and math assignments while providing meaningful instructional feedback and classroom insights. The platform doesn't just generate a score. It provides information educators can actually use. Teachers can identify strengths and weaknesses. Administrators can view trends. Schools can better understand student readiness. One of the most exciting features is the ability to assess readiness for Common Core standards and statewide testing expectations. Summer Is Here Well, summer is finally here. Can I get an amen from my fellow educators? After a long school year, summer represents something every teacher needs. Rest. Relaxation. And rejuvenation. Now don't get me wrong. Teachers don't completely turn off their educator brains. We're always thinking about our students. We're always gathering ideas. We're always planning something. But summer gives us an opportunity to slow down. Personally, I'm looking forward to spending time with family and friends. We've got graduation parties on the calendar. We've got celebrations. And yes, we've even got a few weddings coming up. It's always fun to see young people reaching important milestones in their lives. As educators, we spend so much time celebrating the achievements of our students that it's nice to enjoy those moments with family as well. But more than anything, summer is a chance to recharge. Teaching requires an incredible amount of emotional energy. Every day we're pouring into students. We're encouraging. We're motivating. We're supporting. We're solving problems. And that work matters. But educators need time to refill their own cups too. So wherever your summer takes you, I hope you take time to rest. Read a good book. Spend time outdoors. Travel if you can. Reconnect with family. Laugh a little more. Sleep a little later. And remember that taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's necessary. Because when educators are refreshed, students benefit too. We've Replaced the Crockpot Now let's switch gears for a moment and talk about something much less academic. Food. If you've listened to this podcast for a while, you know I enjoy talking about family life and some of the little things that bring joy to everyday living. Lately we've made an interesting change around the house. We've temporarily retired the crockpot. The hotplate has officially taken over. And believe it or not, ChatGPT has become our unofficial family chef. Now before anyone starts laughing, hear me out. Some of the recipes we've discovered have been absolutely fantastic. We've experimented with pasta dishes. We've tried chicken dishes. We've mixed ingredients we probably never would have thought to combine on our own. And the results have been surprisingly delicious. One night it might be a creamy chicken pasta. Another night it could be garlic parmesan chicken. The next night we're trying something completely different. It's become a fun little adventure. What's interesting is that technology continues finding ways to help us in everyday life. Whether it's creating lesson plans, brainstorming ideas, organizing information, or helping decide what's for dinner, technology has become a useful tool. Of course, technology doesn't replace creativity. It enhances it. That's true in education. And apparently it's true in the kitchen too. So if you're looking for something fun to do this summer, maybe ask ChatGPT for a few new recipes. You might discover your next family favorite. I know we have.
